CS-Day Approaches

D-Day is upon us (or as we’ve called CS-Day – seriously clever shit.  We should be getting medals or getting our genitals bronzed).  We’ll be releasing the Majors cassette debut, Lovely Legs long awaited tape of country punk (cunt-punk) and Cannon’s EP Blerndaddy (the CD version is long out of print – a digital copy should be coming out around the same time as the cassette – you can however download ‘Dog’s in Space’, a track from the EP here).  More information will come as the tapes slowly get back to us.  Don’t f*ck about and spend all your pennies, cause these bad boys will cost anywhere around $2 to $5 a pop!!!
In some other news of sorts, our good friends the Horrortones are launching their triple 7” this Friday night at the Beetle Bar with Long Gone royalty Cannon and Lovely Legs plus the amazingly pleasant, Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side.  The triple 7” is available through Mere Noise Records on the night, and can be pre-ordered as well.  Lovely Legs open the night at 8pm and it's just $12 for the nights festivities.

We leave you with some live video footage we’ve captured the last several months.  The Majors playing the Helicopter Twist and Hey Colombo at Basement 243 and the Gooch Palms playing La Cucaracha at Woodland.

 Get off it ya pud.

The Era of Shows...

Firstly, we’re hosting a show with the faces behind the one and only Sailor Jerry and Wild Parlour at the Alhambra lounge this Sunday night.  Headlining (or at least in our heads) the event are the mighty, mighty Woodboot who I hear are “far too old for this shit now”, so make sure you get in to see them with the addition of Sam from the Chokes on bass.  Also playing are our good friends Tiny Migrants and something a bit different, Provita and Pirates Alive.  Oh, and there’s a SUPER SECRET HEADLINER that won’t be announced until Sunday.  We know who it is and it’s definitely worth coming to see.  Their live show is much like the below video.

Secondly, Our good friend Adam Rogers is coming up from dusty old Melbourne with his band Heart Flew (this time round it features members of Knee Chin and Nikko), and we’re putting on 2 shows together on Sunday, May 13, at the Waiting Room and then Monday, May 14, at Ric’s Bar (when was the last time you saw a band on a Monday at Ric’s?).  Presenting the show with us is Adam’s own label, Unique Beautiful Flowers.

The Sunday show features the talents of Cobwebbs, Curlew and the deep voice of the soon to be Long Gone released, Fred Wood.  It’s all ages and if you’re 18 or older you can bring as much beer as you want (there’s a bottle shop over the road), because it’s BYO and that’s way better than spending $100 out on the town.  Doors open at 7pm, and for just $6 you can witness all these great bands.  We’ve mentioned that if you bring your Mum, you get free entry.  Trick is, your Mum will probably have to pay her own entry unless she brings her Mum, so it all makes sense.

And finally the Monday show is with (once again) the fantastically offensive, Woodboot.  Man do those guys rule or what?  Entry is free and the bands start at 9pm so get down and have some drinks after work.  Monday’s fucking suck and we all know that.

Also tonight, the greatest band in the world, Cannon, play alongside Velociraptor, Bleeding Knees Club and Gold Fields.  It’s just $10 and the shit kicks off at 8:30 in Coniston Lane.  Come along and buy one of their amazing CD’s.

All the best.

Playstation, the First Place

We have a new Facebook page.  The old one was shit, because we were a person…now we’re a page…I don’t really know…it’s still shit right?  Yes!  It is still shit.  Self-disapproving approval.

We were approached a month ago by a young gentlemen by the name of ‘LEX LOPSTER’.  For those of you who don’t know him, he’s been playing in bands since you were eating your Mother’s belly juices.  Ever heard of Z-Rays?? Or Keep On Dancin’s?? Long Gone bad arses, Lovely Legs and Foreign Junk?? Or possibly Ex Con?? Where have you been?  Years back (maybe less than one…possibly more) a band by the name of Geese (patrolled our streets and made sure that dr*gs and alcohol were plentifully available for young and old.  They released a 7” just before they split up (one of the best record’s to come out of Brisbane) and the single Forever was taken and thrown up all over the fields and plains of Europe through Bubca Records.  It’s unreal.  Keep all of this in mind, as Geese maybe releasing something a little bit special soon.  Keep your traps shut!

Tonight, Sonic Masala host their 6th show at the Waiting Room featuring the forever mighty, WOODBOOT, who now have some internet presence.  Who’d a thunk it!!?? They play alongside Star Lion, the Quest for Glory and White Squall.  It’s $10 to get in, but it’s BYO so you’ll be saving money that way.  DO IT!!!

Several Sunday’s ago, we held a show at the Waiting Room for some rad kids from Victoria.  They came in the form of Hierophants, the Living Eyes, the Bonniwells and Ausmuteants, and they came, they saw, they conquered all.  I sold their vinyl's and their tapes and smoked whenever I could take a break.  It’s all (mostly) out through a little label called Anti Fade which is one of the best things going on down south at the moment.  Run by a local scamp, their releases are growing and content is pretty bogus garage – well worth a listen.

Also, Cannon are playing a show next Friday, the 4th of May as part of Chateau Rdio’s debut to the Brisbane airwaves.  They’re playing alongside Goldfields, Bleeding Knees Club and Brisbane’s party in a band, Velociraptor.

KEEP POSTED AS WE HAVE LOT’S OF TAPES BEING RELEASED THIS YEAR!!

In closing, why not download some free Tiny Migrants shit in the spirit of whatever??

Get out of it, ya pud!

Gone for Sale

Those of you who attended the Black Lips show in Brisbane last week will be fully aware that Cannon got wild and tore the Zoo a new bass hole.  What you may not know is that before the Black Lips played, Cole sat side of stage throwing up into a bin for 5 minutes before the band went on stage.  Throwing up in a bin and watching Cannon really do go hand and hand – just watch:

GIRLS

NEVER AGAIN

DREAMS

Their debut album – out through Long Gone – has been getting some shouts and yells about it over the last couple of weeks (with more to follow) and you can read words (WE HAVE WORDS NOW) about it below:

TIME OFF (4/5)
RAVE (3.5/5)

You can download the album digitally here or purchase a CD copy at any of their shows, Repressed Records in Sydney, Off the Hip in Melbourne or the Outpost in Brisbane.  Their debut EP – also through Long Gone - is SOLD OUT, but will be available to download digitally soon!!

Also, you can pick up some Long Gone freebies online (physical copies are ALL GONE) with:

Foreign Junk – Foreign Junk EP

If you can’t make it to any of these super simple places, then you can pick up a copy of Cannon’s CD at any Long Gone show – the next is Friday, March 9th at the Primitive Room featuring wild ramblings from the Majors, Occults, Teen Sensations and the band that bash out cracker-racket, Woodboot.
Take a load off.

Long Gone Mania!

So we have two shows coming up through March – for a label that didn’t do shit for so long, we’re trying to get back into monthly shows.  The first show is at the Primitive Room on Friday, March 9th and the second show is at Black Bear Lodge on Wednesday, March 21st.

The Primitive Room (part of the Spring Hill Hotel) hosts a night of doo-wop and grime!!

Featuring the doo-wop cosmonauts themselves, the Majors, straight from the recording booth - their debut Cassette is due to be released through Long Gone this year. We also have the satanic rituals of, Occults, and the surf-pop sensibility of, Teen Sensations (feat. members of Velociraptor, Tiny Migrants, Sulphur Lights & Keep On Dancin's). And finally a band that’s one day away from retirement, Woodboot.

Doors open at 8pm - $10 entry – Come and get fucked up!!

Woodboot – 9pm
Teen Sensations – 9:45pm
Occults – 10:30pm
The Majors – 11:15pm

Black Bear Lodge hosts the night of dirt poor shenanigans!!

Featuring the band voted #1 to end up on a cattle farm, the Venereals – they’re releasing livestock on the front of their album. We also have country party starters, Sewers, and a man who’s voice is too deep for soul, Fred Wood.

$6 entry from 8pm – Come and get fucked up!!

Fred Wood – 8:30pm
Sewers – 9:15pm
Venereals – 10:00pm

And just in case you thought that wasn’t enough, there may be a third show at the Waiting Room on Sunday, 25th March – but stay tuned for that one.

If your stumped for something to do on your Saturday night then head down to Basement 243 and check out Lovely Legs as they play the Post Apocalyptic Swell #1 alongside, Occults, Aquatic Lifeforms and the Barbiturates.  They’ll also be on Slurred Saturdays on 4ZZZ between 6 and 8pm with Emily and Conwae – them bitches are totally shit!!

Lovely Legs will be release a tape through Long Gone this year.  Couldn’t be more excited.  Nothing like a bit of cunt punk.

Next week is also the Black Lips, and Cannon and Tiny Migrants support on Friday Night at the Zoo.  Tickets are available here.
Don’t miss out because their shows have been selling out left, right and centre.

Tropical Punk = Tropical Weather

Canberra’s very own tropical punk’s, the Fighting League, are playing their debut show in Brisbane this week, for the launch of their debut 12” record ‘Tropical Paradise’ which is out now through Dream Damage Record (ACT heaven).  Though it appears they’ve brought tropical weather with them, if you don’t come to this show they will track you down and bring the  Recorded and mastered by Bruce Callaway (from the fucking Saints dude…get it) the album is “…sounding like the bastard offspring of the Ramones and the B-52’s.” – Neil Evans, Tone Deaf. So come down and see them this Friday night at Woodland (for a measly $10) and pick up a copy of their balls-good record - support comes from our very own douchebag team - Cannon and Tiny Migrants.

Check out their listening wax HERE.

Or check their video for 'Calypso' below:

Also during this month, Cannon went out on an east coast tour for their latest EP ‘Blerndaddy’, and they came back empty handed.  Did you miss out? Cannon have prepared and extra 10 copies which will be available at the Fighting League this Friday…but if you miss out, you’ll never get a physical copy again you dumb hunk.  A digital copy will be available soon, so keep your trousers open.

Speaking of the douchebag team (we’ll discuss how well this will hold), Cannon and Tiny Migrants have both been announced as the Brisbane support for the Black Lips on their upcoming March 2012 Australia tour.  Circle Pit nabbed main support in Sydney & Melbourne with Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys opening Sydney and the Frowning Clouds in Melbourne.  Down on the Gold Coast support comes from the gundam juggernaut that is Velociraptor

Tickets to the Brisbane show are available HERE.

In other news, Melbourne resident, and Europe’s P-Trash Records favourite Brat Farrar (long ago he was once in the Russian Roulettes) is heading over their way for a massive 40+ dates with his touring band, the Fazio Rhythm Machine for the release of his debut 12” Brat Farrar.  Don’t expect Brat to come back though, because he plans to spend the rest of the year lounging about Europe (we can only imagine) to get higher than he’s even been.

Have a listen HERE.

Finally to wrap shit up, the drugged out surf riffs of Thee Hugs have finally been laid to 4-track and will be releasedas a 12” through Long Gone before the year is out.  Also, we’re pleased to announce this year that we’re workingwith the doo-whop shenanigans of the Majors to release a cassette of their adventures.  We’re also pretty sure Woodboot is going to do something, but as they are ‘the band that Brisbane deserve’, ‘Too Old for this Sh!t’ and quite frankly ‘One Day away from Retirement’, we can’t expect them to have much free time to work with us.
